Start on day one

If she is not on your desktop yet, open Getting Started with Little LUMI Model. That walkthrough covers the Steam install, the bundled Java runtime, the first character chooser, and a tour of the Home, Lumi, Behaviour, Sound, Screen, and About tabs. Once she moves, learn the mouse. The controls guide walks through head pats, the hello click, pick-up and throw, the right-click action list, the tray call-to-cursor command, and the official playground rule: you pick which applications she is allowed to climb.

Quiet work, Workshop, and toys

Deep work comes next. Focus mode is the right-click or Home-tab toggle that stops her from speaking first and mutes her sounds. Pair it with the Pomodoro timer, hour call-outs, favours such as Show Desktop, and the Screen-tab switch that hides her while a fullscreen app is in front.

Workshop content is optional. Steam Workshop for Lumi explains how to subscribe, fully restart, and pick the LUMI Voice Pack on the Sound tab. It also warns that LUMI Chat is a separate, heavier third-party item that wants an API key or a local LLM. Do not treat Chat as part of the base install.
