Little LUMI Model Hotfix 1.0.1: Parade dialog freeze

Hotfix 1.0.1 landed on Thursday, 3 September 2026, the same date Little LUMI Model launched. Steam files it as a small update. The note is one sentence and it is enough: Studio LUMI fixed an error dialog that could appear during “Parade” with two or more Lumis, which also froze the settings window.

What actually broke

Store copy sells the social kit: with two or more they chat, high-five, share credits, march in a line, gather on call, and play tag. Parade is the march. In 1.0, that march could throw an error dialog. The dialog was not a polite toast. It froze Settings. Owners who opened Settings to turn Parade off, to dismiss the extra Lumi, or to hit Screen options found the window dead.

That is a nasty loop for a tray utility: the place you go to recover is the place that locks. Task Manager will still kill the Java process — the runtime is bundled, so you are ending Little LUMI Model, not some system JRE. After 1.0.1 you should not need that. If you still do, you are not on the hotfix, or you have a different freeze and should use troubleshooting.

The studio named one failure: Parade error dialog, two or more Lumis, Settings frozen. Believe that sentence until a later note widens it.

Who needed it on day one

• Anyone who clicked Call Another LUMI from the tray.
• Anyone screenshotting a march for launch day.
• Anyone who opened Settings while extras were already socialising.
• Anyone whose first instinct in a frozen Settings window was to click the dialog again.

You did not need 1.0.1 to walk, climb, nap, pat, or run focus mode on a single Lumi. You did not need it to subscribe to the Voice Pack. You did need it before treating extras as A-tier on a machine you rely on.

Workshop extra characters can share the same desktop. If your Parade freeze involved a subscribed walker, still install 1.0.1 first.

How to confirm you have 1.0.1

1. Open Steam → Library → Little LUMI Model → news / update history. You want the 3 September 2026 hotfix entry.
2. Let the client finish the download. A 400 MB product does not hide a giant patch; this one is small.
3. Tray → Quit. Do not leave a 1.0 process alive.
4. Launch from Steam.
5. Summon a second Lumi. Let them meet. Open Settings. Click Home, then Screen. If the window still accepts clicks, you are past the launch-day freeze.
6. If Settings dies again, note whether an error dialog is on screen, how many Lumis you have, and whether Parade was the last thing you saw. Then post that in discussions or mail ai.init.alpha@gmail.com.

The About tab is the in-app place to look for a version string if Steam’s UI is being vague. If About itself will not open, you are still in the freeze: kill the process, update, retry with one Lumi.

What to do if you hit the 1.0 bug

• Do not spam the error dialog.
• Do not keep spawning Lumis hoping the march “works itself out.”
• End the app from the tray if the tray still works; otherwise Task Manager.
• Start Steam, wait for 1.0.1, relaunch.
• Keep extras off until Settings has opened cleanly once.
• Then follow multiple Lumis instead of mash-clicking Call Another LUMI.

Your affection counters are local. Killing the process to escape a frozen Settings window is ugly, not a reason to uninstall. Parade was fixed, not removed. Install 1.0.1, open Settings on purpose, then go back to work. That is the entire relationship you should have with this build.
